Four characteristic pieces (1907) inspired by ethnographic literature on Inuit culture: Arctic Night, The Returning Hunter, Exiles, and With Dog Teams. Beach drew on published accounts and phonograph recordings — an early example of cross-cultural musical imagination in American piano writing.
