Frühe Klaviermusik (Early Piano Music)

A collection of early solo piano works composed before Op.1, published posthumously in 1985 and 1989. The centrepiece is the 12 Variations on an Original Theme in C major (1908), Berg's most substantial pre-opus piano work. Also includes a Passacaglia/Largo, a Sonata-Allegro fragment, and several shorter pieces. Together they document Berg's development from a late-Romantic student composer into the singular voice of Op.1.
