Kammerkonzert für Klavier und Geige mit 13 Bläsern (Chamber Concerto)
by Alban Berg
Chamber concerto for piano, violin, and 13 wind instruments composed 1923–25. One of Berg's most architecturally complex works, saturated with numerological and autobiographical symbolism — the opening bars spell out the notes corresponding to the names of Schoenberg, Webern, and Berg in musical notation. Three movements: Thema scherzoso con variazioni (piano with winds), Adagio (violin with winds), and Rondo ritmico con introduzione (violin and piano with winds). The Adagio was arranged in 1926 for violin, clarinet, and piano.
