Douze Notations
Twelve miniatures for solo piano, each constructed from a single twelve-tone row and its transformations. Composed in 1945 as concentrated studies, they represent Boulez's first published piano cycle. Boulez later orchestrated Nos. I–IV and VII (1978–97).
