Structures for Two Pianos
Two books for two pianos, composed a decade apart. Book I (1951–52) applies total serialism — twelve-tone organisation of pitch, duration, dynamics, and attack — with maximum rigour. Book II (1961) relaxes these constraints, allowing considerable interpretive freedom within a still demanding structural framework.
