Impromptu for solo piano in C major, composed 1873. An early work showing Chabrier's natural gift for inventive melody and harmonic colour before his fully mature voice had emerged. Charming, well-crafted, and already marked by the rhythmic vitality and harmonic surprise that would characterise his later masterpieces.
