Clavierübung III, BWV 669–689
by J.S. Bach
The third part of Bach's Clavier-Übung, sometimes called the German Organ Mass. Framed by the monumental Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major (BWV 552), it contains 21 chorale settings based on Lutheran catechism hymns, each presented in a large setting with pedal and a smaller manualiter version. Among the most intellectually rigorous and spiritually profound of Bach's organ works.
