Makrokosmos, Volume I
by George Crumb
Twelve Fantasy-Pieces after the Zodiac for amplified piano (1972). Dedicated to pianist David Burge. Each piece carries a zodiac subtitle and a hidden signature of a performer's name spelled into the score. The collection represents Crumb's signature sound world: harmonics, strings played directly, and elaborate notational graphics.
