Passacaglia in E-flat minor, Op. 6
A substantial passacaglia for solo piano in E♭ minor, composed around 1900. Built on a repeated bass theme, the work develops through variations of growing intensity and complexity, demonstrating Dohnányi's mastery of the Baroque variation form within a fully Romantic harmonic language. One of the most demanding of his earlier piano works.
