Sonatine pour flûte et piano (Sonatine for Flute and Piano)
Three-movement sonatine for flute and piano composed 1943. Movements: Allegretto, Andante, Animé. Disowned by Dutilleux as a student work derivative of Debussy and Roussel, but it has remained in continuous performance as a flute recital staple — one of the most frequently performed French flute sonatines of the 20th century. Approachable and melodically appealing despite the composer's reservations. Duration approximately 12 minutes.
