Piano Sonata No. 3

by Paul Hindemith

Composed 1936
Published 1936
Works 4

Four-movement sonata in B-flat major — the most technically virtuosic of the set. A driving scherzo (II) and march-like third movement frame a finale that is a fully worked-out fugue. Glenn Gould championed this sonata; Earl Wild also performed it. Still under copyright (Schott Music); not available on IMSLP.
