Suite \"1922\"
Five-movement satirical suite in which Hindemith replaces the forms of the Baroque dance suite with the popular dances of early Weimar Berlin — march, shimmy, night-piece, Boston waltz, ragtime. A cornerstone of Neues Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity), the suite parodies sentimental Romanticism and embraces jazz-influenced idioms with wit and aggression. Published 1922; public domain in the US.
