Works 24

Twenty-four études covering all major and minor keys in parallel pairs (C/c, G/g, D/d…), composed c.1828 and published c.1833. A comprehensive keyboard method in musical form, each étude exploring a different technical challenge within a specific key. As the Hyperion catalogue notes, this set was 'surely a model for Chopin's Opp.10 and 25.' They range from brief one-minute studies to substantial concert pieces, and include a Polacca, a Fughette, and a beautiful Andante cantabile alongside more conventional brilliant études.
