Piano Sonata No. 4 in C major, Op. 38
Three-movement piano sonata in C major composed c.1808. Lighter and more openly brilliant than Op.20, it shows Hummel's gifts as a pianist-composer — idiomatic keyboard writing, elegant melodic invention, and polished craftsmanship. A significant concert piece of the Viennese Classical tradition.
