Violin Sonata, JW 7/7
by Leoš Janáček
Four-movement sonata for violin and piano composed 1914–15 and revised up to 1922. Janáček's most important duo chamber work. The four movements — Con moto, Ballada (Con moto), Allegretto, Adagio — are marked by the characteristic short motivic cells and intense concentration of his mature style. The Ballada second movement is among his most striking instrumental inspirations. Duration approximately 17 minutes.
