Piano Concerto No. 4 in E major, Op. 64
Piano Concerto No. 4 in E major, Op. 64, composed c.1823. The sunny E major key marks a change of mood from the dramatic Third Concerto, with a more optimistic and brilliant character throughout. The piano writing is particularly idiomatic, exploiting the resonance of E major on the period instrument for which Moscheles composed. Among the most technically demanding of the four Classical-era concertos.
