Piano Concerto No. 5 in C major, Op. 87
Piano Concerto No. 5 in C major, Op. 87, composed c.1829. Moscheles's fifth concerto marks a transition in his style: the harmonic language is richer, the orchestration more colourful, and the expressive scope broader than in the earlier four. Written during his most productive London years, it reflects both the technical advances of his playing and a growing interest in the Romantic aesthetic filtering through from Schubert and the young Schumann.
