Trois Sarabandes
by Erik Satie
Three sarabandes composed in 1887, predating the Gymnopédies. Remarkably prophetic of Impressionist harmony — ninths and unresolved dissonances that anticipate Debussy by a decade. Satie later claimed Debussy had borrowed from him.
