Suite für Klavier, Op. 25 (Suite for Piano)
Suite for solo piano composed 1921–23, Schoenberg's first fully twelve-tone work (alongside Op.23). Modelled on Baroque suite forms: Präludium, Gavotte with Musette, Intermezzo, Menuett with Trio, Gigue. The use of historical dance forms within the twelve-tone language was a deliberate statement — Schoenberg showing that serialism could absorb and renew the great traditions of Western counterpoint. Often considered his piano masterpiece. Duration approximately 15–18 minutes.
