Klavierstücke Op. 33a and 33b (Two Piano Pieces)
Two solo piano pieces — Op. 33a (1928–29) and Op. 33b (1931) — Schoenberg's last works for solo piano. Both are in mature twelve-tone style, more tightly organised than Op.25, with clearer formal outlines reminiscent of classical sonata thought. Op. 33a was composed first and is slightly longer; Op. 33b is more concentrated. Often performed as a pair. Duration approximately 8–10 minutes together.
