Piano Sonata in F major, Op. 12
Sibelius's only piano sonata, composed 1893. In three movements (Allegro molto — Andantino — Vivacissimo), it is the most substantial of his early piano works and one of the key pieces for understanding his transition from a student voice to a national composer. Widely regarded as the finest of his larger-scale piano works.
