Sonata romantica, Op. 3
Romantic Sonata for piano solo, Op. 3, composed c. 1909 and one of Turina's earliest published piano works. Written in the aftermath of his studies with Vincent d'Indy at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, the Sonata romantica shows the influence of the Franckian cyclic method alongside unmistakably Spanish thematic material. The work is significant as an early example of the fusion of Parisian compositional rigour and Andalusian musical identity that would define Turina's mature style.
