Biography

The eldest and arguably most gifted of J.S. Bach's sons, Wilhelm Friedemann combined his father's contrapuntal mastery with an early Romantic emotional intensity that set him apart from his contemporaries. His keyboard works — fantasias, polonaises, and sonatas — are underperformed relative to their quality and originality.
