Biography

A prolific organist and composer who worked in Erfurt, Stuttgart, and Nuremberg, Pachelbel is best known today for his Canon in D, though this represents only a fraction of his output. His chorale preludes and fugues were an important model for Bach. His keyboard suites and the Hexachordum Apollinis demonstrate considerable technical and compositional sophistication.
