Biography

One of the most original and radical voices of early Modernism, Scriabin began as a Chopin disciple and evolved through an increasingly chromatic harmonic language toward the invention of his own mystic chord. His ten piano sonatas chart this evolution from late Romantic to fully post-tonal writing. His etudes, preludes, and character pieces are among the most pianistically innovative works in the repertoire. He believed his final projected work, Mysterium, would transform the world.
