Biography

The founder of German Romantic opera, Weber was also a significant piano composer whose Concert Stuck in F minor and four piano sonatas were important bridges between Classical and Romantic keyboard style. His Invitation to the Dance (1819) is the first great Romantic concert waltz and was later orchestrated by Berlioz. Liszt championed his piano music throughout his career.
