Pièces de clavecin, Book 1
Thirty harpsichord pieces organized as suites of French dances. Published in 1670 when Chambonnières was nearly seventy, this first book established the template for the French harpsichord suite — elegant allemandes, lively courantes, stately sarabandes — that would be followed by d'Anglebert, Couperin, and Rameau.
