Organ Symphony No. 5 in A minor, Op. 47
by Louis Vierne
Composed after Vierne lost his brother and son in World War I, this five-movement symphony is perhaps his most emotionally intense. The Grave introduction and Larghetto reflect deep grief, while the Final surges forward with defiant energy.
